Chew On This.

you say: "write more I am bored"

we say: can't right now (THE F#*$ING RECESSION!!!)

oh lord.

we sigh, we slouch, we eat only bread and butter.
we stretch, we groan, we are going quite nutter.
the gas bills' due.
our rents' too f$*#ing high.
we'd like to booze and sit pretty
all day long...
under the bloomy Chicago sky...
but we can't
and we won't
not till things are taken care of.

'cause we are woebegone over job woes.
and we wrestle with pathless job fauxs'
and we need a hair change.
and a breath mint.

we've got a case of the snifflin' sneezies
and a pasty white lack of tan-ness.
(you can add 'ness' to anything)
and we're worried about the middle east.
we're worried about the warming trend.
we're worried about our grandpa
and our papa and the happiness
of all women, kids, puppies, and men.

and for those that struggle and grapple
for help and for those that need a boost
or a hug and lay in grief on the bathroom
rug. we worry we worry. and mostly we
scurry around in the minutiae of
everyday hurry.

so you see, we have littler time to write.
obviously no time to vent. or stare.
or wonder what in sweet gravy we should
do next in this atmosphere.

but we will be back, all in good time.
if our words were dollars, we'd be
pretty damn fine.
just stick with us like harold and
kumar. like snoop and dre. rob and
big. you get the picture....coming soon
our radio show: peg, frances, & pretty little skib.**

Our Mustache Itches

photo love, via swissmiss

There was an old man made of Jello,
he wore a moustache of yellow.
His nose was cold,
and his whiskers were itchy.
But alas, that's what you get
when you live in the Windy City.

Hot Diggity-Doug

photo love

We here at the Frances and Judy Show love hot dogs. 'No secret there,' you might lovingly chuckle to yourself. 'They sure do,' you may snort out loud. But any way you grill it, we heart hot dogs and we don't settle for anything less than the juiciest (unless it's 3a.m. and we're really jonesin').
*
Enter Hot Doug's. This dandy Chicago establishment not only serves one helluva Chicago-Style, it also creates some of the most creative yet still utterly blissful hot dog concoctions EVER. Plus, our buddy Doug uses the freshest of fresh ingredients and smiles when he serves us. (*sigh* starry eyes hot dog love *sigh*).
*
Some of the deliciously yummy-sounding specials on el menu:
1. Mexican Chorizo with Jalapeño Mayonnaise and Hanañero-Jack Cheese
2. Roasted Pepper and Garlic Chicken Sausage with Roasted Garlic Dijonnaise and Goat-Cheese Stuffed Green Olives
3. Spinach and Feta Chicken Sausage with Tapenade Aioli and Feta Cheese

Clearly we like the heavy, cheese & sauce-laden ones. But whatever blows your hair back, Doug will have it and Doug will serve it up fresh as a spring rose.

We are, indeed, smitten. And so you should as well. Hit it up, and let us know of some other fab hot diggity sources in Chicago and the wide world beyond.

A Tuesday Truth, Part 2.

photo love

Well, more of an observation really.

WHO the monkey are The Cab Drivers talking to on their cellies? WHO. Who. Who? Five am cab ride, and the driver is yappin' away in Parseltongue. Or Portuguese. Or Siamese, maybe. 6 pm cab ride, driver is spewing Pig Latin, switching lanes, sipping coffee, smoking a cig, while talking on what looks to be a walkie talkie and a cellie simultaneously. 2 am cab ride, same story. Except this cabbie is taking a swig of Jack Daniels, blasting Indi-pop, jumpin' curbs, while talking on what appears to be 9 cell phones, one Blackberry, two iPhones, with his laptop on the seat next to him- checking his emails and posting on Myspace.

This is perplexing! All we want is to make sure we get to our destination safely and mostly alive! And whatever happened to the art of polite-surface-level-person-to-person bullsh#$? A simple 'how do you do?' Or even a 'lovely day, today.' Maybe we have watched one too many old films. Or maybe we long for simpler times. Golly, maybe we are just too gosh darn sensitive for public transpo. Time to invest in a beautiful bike.

(Transpo Sidenote: This morning, our 7-year-old darling curious stargazer asked:
"Which is faster, horses or cars?"
"Cars."
"Well our car has a lot of horsepower. Lots of horsepower under the hood."
We smiled and said "Yes, that sounds about right.")

Gimme Some Air

Right here, right now...
It's practice day and Blue Angels are flying past, fast and close, fast and closer. The building is vibrating, the air is seething and why don't we love this more? We want to be giddy but we kinda wanna get off this floor and back down to the ground more. Heyy, spoil sport.

Or better yet, we wanna be where the people are, and from our view it's le beach and le silky sailboats. Let's go, let's go, let's get up and go.

Lovely photos, gotham24 and arch.

Turn Us Up, Turn Us On

Thanks for the photo, Mor.
Things That Turn Us ON:
1. Loud drumming in the afternoon shade
2. Havin' Smarts
3. Moonpies and Starbursts
4. Hashin' out life over sushi & vodka lemmies
5. Watching amateur fireworks on a Tuesday night at the back door
6. Impromptu get togethers with wildly wonderful friends.
7. Jack Johnson's voice.
8. Imagining ourselves as Catwoman on a smoky, hazy, Gotham City-esque Chicago night.
