Life & Loss.

What: Philosophy & life lessons from one cool kid.
Where: Minnie's for the best little hamburgers, little sandwiches; and little drinks.
Why: Their cousins's dog just died.
When: Yesterday, noonish.

Fran (ageless): We used to have a black poodle. A big one, named Mary Ellen, when I was your age. She was great...sweet...nice. Anyway, I was there when she died. I was about ten and we came home from a trip...and she died.
Jack (9): How did you know she was dead? Did she collapse?
Fran: Yeah...it was really sad. I just sat there...and pet her. And tried to make her comfortable.
Jack: Well, it's the circle of life. I mean, you just gotta respect that.

wise & wonderful truths are everywhere,

Build Your Dreams.

Lately we have been pondering upon the future. And because of this, we have composed a list of some terrific futuristic opportunistic ideas we would to impress upon in our daily life and house on a hill that we shall build. For the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams, according to our old girl, E. Roosevelt.

1) A Confectionery/Patisserie on the first floor of our house on the hill. So we can enjoy the Lady in the Black Shirt's famous chocolate lava molten cake and perfectly perfected strawberry shortcake. Daily. And we will drink chocolate hot or cold, out of little yellow teacups. And surround the shop with orchids and lilies and lots of hydrangeas. Which will of course be edible, if you should choose to eat so.
2) Oodles of Poodles. So that when people ask 'Where do you live?' We can say back to them 'On the house on the hill, with the oodles of poodles.' And they'll know exactly what we mean by that.
3) Strawberry Noodles. For every Thursday night's spaghetti dinners and leftover lunches before the Friday Night Fish Fry.
4) A Dumbwaiter. We first became enchanted with the idea of a dumbwaiter during our Harriet the Spy days. However, we like to think we wouldn't have been caught by Mrs. Plumber! And would have managed to find out about the bachelor's cats, the lazy son of the immigrants, and the indolent woman confined to her bed for life in a perfectly quiet and sneaky way, while spying through the dumbwaiter. Plus, we would then also have the option of hollering down the dumbwaiter 'Lady in the Black Shirt, be a dear and send up a magic cupcake with goblet of pink champy please? It's teatime, love.'

Holiday Joie De Vivre.

photo love

joie de vivre:
(n.) A delight in being alive; keen, carefree enjoyment of living. Hearty or carefree enjoyment of life. A love of life. From French, meaning “joy of living.”

Over the breaky and through the woods, we traveled all around the grand State of The Badger. From horns and honking and skyscrapers and smogging, to sunshine wheat fields and one beautiful (and lucky!) sundog. We saw NRA bumper stickers, pheasants, and cheese curds. Brady Street, State Street, and turkey girds. Our beautimous cousin Sal, the belle of The Charity Ball. A lovely stay in the hillside of Baraboo, and (thank Oprah!) skip-a-roo'd out of black Friday at the mall (eww). We heard Ella and Louis as we melted in holiday-happy. We ate turkey soup The Day After and watched Will Ferrell get syrup-sappy. We ate divine sugar cookies shaped like trees. Went for a crisp holiday walk with the cute and curly Fergie. Cuddled with a pup called Snugs. Had meetings and greetings, good talks, kisses, and hugs. J'adore le holidays. J'adore le life! To be happy and healthy and free from strife, for only just a moment in this life is blessed and we are grateful. If we were food, we'd give you a heapin' plateful.

Help Wanted.

Fill in the bubble for us, will ya? What should it say? (personally, we are leaning toward 'We love you, Heath Ledger'). Get wacky. Chew some tobacky. Come on, get freaky- it's Friday y'all!
We're feelin' a zip in our bips and some dance in our pants. We're ready for a splashy wedding weekend and see off a friend in her matrimonous song and dance.

A Little Weetzie Goes a Long Way

"A kiss about palm trees speeding by, trailing pink clouds when you drive down the Strip sizzling with champagne."
-Weetzie Bat by Francesca Lia Block
*
We don't know what it is. Maybe the unseasonal heat on the pavement. Maybe the caramel cupcake we just ate for lunch. Maybe the costume dance party we are looking forward to tonight. But whatever it is, we're feeling frisky and fancy-free on this Friday afternoon, and we have love in our hearts and mischief in our eyes. What can we say? We're having a Weetzie Bat kind of day.
*
What kind of days are you having, moonpies?

Us + Frodo = Love 4 Eva.

photo love

if we could,
we would give all of our love
to the littlest teacup poodle.
pop him in our gramophone.
name him frodo baggins.
dance around,
pantless.
like a sexy little hobbit.

the end.
