Dabble, Dabble

product love, via refinery29

Oh, the quote. Oh, the design. Ohh, the loveliness.

Citrus, vanilla, dabble dabble, and sigh. Heaven sent. Er, scent.

Never forget how far
a little scent
and a lot of dreams
will take you.

2nd Star & Straight On Till the Orient

Where would you go, if you had everything in front of you? Where would you venture, if money didn't matter and time was all you had? Some would choose the moon, some would choose the sea, some would choose pretty black mountains to climb away to the very same moon.
*
But we, we cannot choose. Maybe because money does matter, and maybe because time is not all we have, but definitely maybe because there are so many wonderful places we want to walk through and live through during this little ol' life of ours. But you see, don't you see, India's too security warning-heavy, vietnam is too monsoon-ensconsed, and New Zealand is too pricey. So where would we go, if we knew we'd only be going once, just once, in our deary little lifetime?
*
Maybe South Africa,
maybe Brazil.
Maybe Morocco
to the pretty-ditty land of Fes.
*
Who knows, but then again, why not throw back to the good ol' days. Really now, how de lovely would it be to go on an adventure on rail? A divine, old-school throwback to the times of ladies in frocks and liquid eyeliner and dining cars in which you sing about washing your hair with the snow in Vermont. The days of Harry Potter.
*
Well hello and how are you to the very fine Orient-Express. Can't you just feel Ms. Christie getting chills and thrills of excitement down her pretty little spine?
*
And if money didn't matter (which it shouldn't) and spending wasn't no thing (which it shouldn't be), then we think we just might embark upon such a journey, skirting through the wide wicked world of Italy sunsets and inviting grape fields and pretty women in colorful scarves.

Boot Up & Rock Out. Word.

photo love, via ffffound

If we could have any old thing in the world right on this very night, we are sure as honeysuckle that it would be a pair of cowgirl boots, beat up and rock 'n roll as can be. They're a little bit anarchy, a little bit pumpkin pie, and a whole lotta girly fun.

How do you monkeys rock out? Do tell, do tell...

A Halo of Humidifiers For All!

*
It is so unbelievably, wretchedly, endlessly dry in our world this week, our only wish last night as every sip of water was making us suspiciously more thirsty, was to have a halo of humidifiers built for us so we could breathe easy everywhere we went. We would never take it off, not until the first day of true blue spring when we would once again have magically luscious skin, flowing hair and no more stuffed up heads.
*
And that, lovely cherry pies, is our wish for the day, if we could have only one. What would yours be? Free cab rides for a year? Unlimited hot dogs for a month? Lots of money? Do tell, do tell.

Shaken, Not Stirred

*
Ya know deary crab apples, we've never really been much into dusting. Really now, what's the point? Now, now, don't misunderstand our lovely thoughts. We certainly concur that it is mighty nice and spoonfuls of fun to shake things up every now an again... It's just that we don't include dust in our list of those oh so fun things to shake up. The world, our life, sometimes even a bottle of champy when we're feeling particularly crazy. But not dust.
*
However, nutterbutters... We do soooo like this duster more than anything we've ever came across in this typically uninspiring category. And whoulda thunk it, it allllmost makes us feel like cleaning.
*
Almost.

Sometimes it's nice when books have pretty colored pictures and pretty short stories and pretty short punchy funny yet sometimes existentially profound dialogue.

We also really like this poster.

Holidazed.

photo love

our nose is runny. and it's bleeding. yes, very sketchy.
yet ultimately revealing that all it is due to is jack frost
dry cold biting our face off and freezing our toes.
icicles hang off our every word as we barely
trudge through the sludge and snow dirt comboturd.
which is really quite nasty and makes us slip rather fasty
reminding us that the lasty thing that we want is to walk
back outside slip on our booty and slide slide slide.
yes all that we want at this time of year is to hibernate
nicely with a book and ted bear and maybe a good cuddly
friend who also brings beneficials. we will sip peppomint
schnapps sing carols, chirp whistles. build forts out of
blankets and lose track of time. oh wait what's that sound?
oh it's the wine buzzer. time for more wine. so cheers to
more wine and false holiday hopes. we cling to them every year
in hope that we just won't go broke but we do anyway and
what can we say. we love the presents candy stockings
baked cinnamon swirl droppings red and green everywhere
holiday in the air, so, we'll pay it all off by may.

of 2009.

Myrrh & Frankincense For Your Fella (In Present Tense).

This weekend, will you be holiday ship-shoppin'? Dropping benjis like it's nothin'? Sippin' your gingerbread latte. Mocha mint madness hot cherry slushy. Cherry jubilee dark cocoa mint secret kahlua mixture. Or somethin'? No? Just straight whiskey from your flask? Cool, cool.

Well if you got a fella, and he's a daring darling, adventurous type- why not try out the Dangerous Book for Boys? It's made for He-mans from eight to eighty. It will teach him how to grow a crystal. Tie different kind of knots. And even how to approach, treat, and handle GIRLS (i.e. listen to them).

We love this cheeky jolly British book. We bet our arse our boy and yours would too!

There Must Be Some Toros in the Atmosphere

Our wintery morn commute involves two buses and a small but sufficient amount of trekking through the snow, no sleigh handy anywhere (though we continue to look for that shimmer of a sleigh and listen for those tinkling of bells). Us being the smarty bunny we are, we thought ahead for this blustery season that is now upon us. 'Ho, ho! No problem here! We'll just don our pretty rain boots in darling hunter green, and frolick in the snow all we please!' (This is, in fact, how we speak to ourselves. Sometimes aloud, sometimes in soft whispers and sometimes in our head. But regardless, most sentences to ourselves do begin with a 'Ho, ho!' and continue with lots of exclamation points. Because really dearies, that is the only way to live.)
*
Ahem. Except for one humble pie of a hiccup - rain boots are not cold-proof. Yes indeedy, they keep out the cold wetness that is melted slushy snow. But. But. They do not keep your toes toasty or your feet feeling wintery warm.

And so. We need some wintery warm boots. And, deary crumpets, if we could have our pick of well-made, snug-as-a-bug-in-a-rug winter boots, we would choose one of these pretties. The gems above is so very 1960's, Dylan's The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan cover, while the pair below are so very chestnuts-roasting, Gap Ad golden delicious.

How do you keep warm through the holidays, moppets? Besides a hot toddy here and there and everywhere, that is.

The Charlie Browniest.

Lucy Van Pelt: Are you afraid of staircases? If you are, then you have climacaphobia. Maybe you have thalassophobia. This is fear of the ocean, or gephyrobia, which is the fear of crossing bridges. Or maybe you have pantophobia. Do you think you have pantophobia?
Charlie Brown: What's pantophobia?
Lucy Van Pelt: The fear of everything.
Charlie Brown: THAT'S IT.

Of all the Charlie Browns in the world, we are the Charlie Browniest.  We eat, sleep, and breathe A Charlie Brown Christmas, this time of year.  We play the soundtrack on repeat and tickle the fake ivories in the air.  So, we spose it's just like fate or something that right now we are in the mood for chocolately slouchy boots.  A brownie sundae dress- yet to be designed- but oh-so floaty and warm.  Oozing with wintery goodness and yum.  A pair of tights.  Maybe even in purple or blue.  Come on y'all, let's shake up the winter blah blah blacks.   Even if we do stay in again, curl up by the fire, and watch Charlie and Lucy hash out life's quandaries in all their philosophical and psychological undertone glory.

Starry Eyed Twinkle Toes

stars love

If money grew on trees (as it does at our deary friend Jennni's abode) and Santa was our homeboy, we would ask for this little laddy for Christmas this year. We would curl up with our wool socks on and our zombies mug in hand, and we would look up at our ceiling with yummy relaxation and stars in our eyes. We would count the constellations and borrow Orion's sword and we would love. every. minute.
