Dabble, Dabble

product love, via refinery29

Oh, the quote. Oh, the design. Ohh, the loveliness.

Citrus, vanilla, dabble dabble, and sigh. Heaven sent. Er, scent.

Never forget how far
a little scent
and a lot of dreams
will take you.

As a Bug in a Rug

*
Awww. Thanks Franzy.
*
And yes, our head feels like it's bobbing underwater and our neck gets woozy when we look from side to side and we're sucking down water so fast we should probably just up and move our desk into the bathroom already... But, hey, it's winter and some days we all feel like this, eh, pretty penguins?
*
Speaking of animals and animal-like things, how much better would life be with this little dandy, pictured above? It goes by the name of a sealpelt, and don't we wish we were snug as a bug in a rug inside it at this very moment. While enveloped in the adventures of Lyra in The Golden Compass, for suresy. Because that's how we roll. Because baby it's cold outside. Because this little gem of a book is wayyy better than the movie. Because who doesn't love a fantasy book, especially one starring a fierce little girl who is smarter than the average bear?
*
So that's where we'll be tonight, that's how we'll be hanging. But we're back, Jack, we're back on the blogg and back to life. And we couldn't heart you precious pies one single bit more without our scarred hearts bursting with joyyy.
*
So until next time, until next weeksy, when we're back in full dark force...

Shaken, Not Stirred

*
Ya know deary crab apples, we've never really been much into dusting. Really now, what's the point? Now, now, don't misunderstand our lovely thoughts. We certainly concur that it is mighty nice and spoonfuls of fun to shake things up every now an again... It's just that we don't include dust in our list of those oh so fun things to shake up. The world, our life, sometimes even a bottle of champy when we're feeling particularly crazy. But not dust.
*
However, nutterbutters... We do soooo like this duster more than anything we've ever came across in this typically uninspiring category. And whoulda thunk it, it allllmost makes us feel like cleaning.
*
Almost.

We Heart Books of All Looks

Sometimes it's nice when books have pretty colored pictures and pretty short stories and pretty short punchy funny yet sometimes existentially profound dialogue.

We also really like this poster.

There Must Be Some Toros in the Atmosphere

Our wintery morn commute involves two buses and a small but sufficient amount of trekking through the snow, no sleigh handy anywhere (though we continue to look for that shimmer of a sleigh and listen for those tinkling of bells). Us being the smarty bunny we are, we thought ahead for this blustery season that is now upon us. 'Ho, ho! No problem here! We'll just don our pretty rain boots in darling hunter green, and frolick in the snow all we please!' (This is, in fact, how we speak to ourselves. Sometimes aloud, sometimes in soft whispers and sometimes in our head. But regardless, most sentences to ourselves do begin with a 'Ho, ho!' and continue with lots of exclamation points. Because really dearies, that is the only way to live.)
*
Ahem. Except for one humble pie of a hiccup - rain boots are not cold-proof. Yes indeedy, they keep out the cold wetness that is melted slushy snow. But. But. They do not keep your toes toasty or your feet feeling wintery warm.

And so. We need some wintery warm boots. And, deary crumpets, if we could have our pick of well-made, snug-as-a-bug-in-a-rug winter boots, we would choose one of these pretties. The gems above is so very 1960's, Dylan's The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan cover, while the pair below are so very chestnuts-roasting, Gap Ad golden delicious.

How do you keep warm through the holidays, moppets? Besides a hot toddy here and there and everywhere, that is.

Let's Go For a Drive: You Drive, We'll Ride

Oh, sweet Dylan Thomas. We will always heart this old man - for his words, for proposing to his wife while drunker than a skunk, for once getting fired from a newspaper job. Ahh, sweet beat-up messy poets.

And this little ditty of a commercial does just the trick for providing bravado power to Mr. Thomas's words. Watch the night go by set to the tune of Richard Burton reciting Thomas's pretty little poem Under Milk Wood. It's the creativist (made-up word #4,072) ad for a car we've enjoyed yet.

And ya know joes, there's a lotta scoffing we hear about the big ol' world of advertising. And yessiree, it's more than a wee bit easy to roll our eyes and complain that too many oodles of messages are being fed into our ears and brains and toes and are seeping out our eyes and our minds. True, true, we do partake in just such barking at times. Because yes, there are so many lies, and yes, so many twists and turns of facts and words.

But. But sometimes, you'll be flipping along or surfing along and you'll come upon a bright little treasure than falls upon your lap from the skies of the high-rise advertising world. And you'll sigh and exclaim and be forced to admit, 'My, my, what creative jobs these dearies have!' And they do, oh but they do.

Alas, jobs are what you make of them, and every day we can choose to put on our creative, poetry breathing, car-fire starting (see above vid for bizarre reference) berets, and make a little music with our day.

Cubicle Escapism 101

photo love

Two beautiful-quirky city dwellers who skipped town and cubicles to embark upon a new adventure and an promising venture: a kitschy-classy store called The Curiosity Shoppe. In need of a whittling kit? Searching for un perfecto slingshot pencil for the bus driver who failed to STOP or even slow down at your bus stop this morning? And a new pinhole camera to capture the moment? Well oh boy, we know where to send ya. And if you just need some inspiration on a Tuesday when your brain is foggy and your glass is half-empty, then head over and get your fill. Because the world is full of possibilities, and we're just waiting to see what you come up with, mon cheries. Time to get crackin'...

Our Mustache Itches

photo love, via swissmiss

There was an old man made of Jello,
he wore a moustache of yellow.
His nose was cold,
and his whiskers were itchy.
But alas, that's what you get
when you live in the Windy City.

The Fridge.

cartoon love

Are you the kind of person who walks by dumpsters, checking them out for any forgotten or buried treasures? Do you wonder why Daughtry is famous? Do you believe, to this very day, that Carmen Sandiego is still out there somewhere? Do you feel kinda guilty about that? Guilty cause your inept computer skills at the Super Sleuth level just didn't cut it. Do you ever wonder what you wouldn't do for a Klondike bar? Do you tend to make friends with those that are smart, thoughtful, drunk, and slutty? Do you ever catch yourself wondering sometimes 'I am wondering what ever happened to Sally Jessy Raphael. I wonder about that sometimes. Then I catch myself wondering about that, sometimes.'

Good. Us too. And we love that about you and us. We share that really special connection. It's just like, with some friends you don't have to talk everyday. You just get each other. And in our case- we mostly just talk and talk and talk, digitally. And you, being the good friend that you are- just listen quietly, digitally. Sending us support in a silent, yet ultra cool and uber-supportive way. We guess what we're trying to say is, you're a really great listener. You really are. Love ya like a sister or L.Y.L.A.S. We love you 'til the rain bows and the butter flies, girlfriend. Friends forever.

Anyho.

Where are we going with this?? Um, Monday fuzzy Monday. Umm...oh yeah. Well so, do you ever feel that sometimes you just go days. Minutes. Decades. Or eons (for you melodramatic folks), just feelin' like nothin' ever happens to poor little you? You sift through your day to day life like flour poured into the Sifter of Life. Sifted together with The Butter and The Sugar (The Good Times) and The Baking Soda and The Salt (The Salty Times) all to contribute to The Big Cake (Your Life)? We know! Us too. God we are like twins or something. Blood brothers, at least.

But then BOOM! You get a new refrigerator (we have named it Perry. It's so big and muscular, how could we not? It has more strength than that of 1000 fridges combined!) And like, your life totally changes for the better. Your dude actually wants to hang at your apartment now. Your friend Tom doesn't get food poisoning any more (Sorry Tom. We still feel just terrible about that). And you are like a real person now, man. You kinda wish you could do a little jig with Pinocchio, hold hands, and celebrate your realness together. You have appliances. And they are fuckin' cute as shit too.

Appliances are just the neatest thing. We just really love our new refrigerator. It can make so many things cold. It's big and white and clean. It has tons of shelves for drinks. Two huge drawers for veggies and fruits. Even a cute little like put-your-eggs-here-kind-of-egg-hole -thing. We love it so much, we might just fuggin' marry it.

Do you love appliances? Yardwork? Your washing machine? Have a household item fetish? Do you name inanimate objects kinda often/all the time? Please share.

Listen Up, Sallies

t-shirt love

Heyyy, brothas. Watch it, now. We're armed, we're dangerous, and we have a hankering for this zexxy shirt. Because ya gotta have your guard up when you're out here on these streets.

Looky here, babes on toyland. If you want to avoid danger with a capital D, here are five basic rules to live by of what never to do:
1. Leave your house wearing nothing but Chanel No. 5
2. Look meek
3. Let your full knowledge of Saved By the Bell trivia be known
4. Wear your underwear outside of your pants
5. Cross Michigan Ave when the Do Not Walk sign is flashing. Just trust us.

One thing to always do no matter what:
1. Wear this shirt.

Get it, dearies. And what to add to this list, por favor??

Heyyy, Sugar Sugar

ad love, via monoscope

When we were little, it was building forts, hiding in closets, and sneaking extra ice cream into our Bears mug during dessert.

When we got a little older, it was starting a BSC of our very own (though short-lived), imagining Joey from NKOTB was singing to us and us alone, and our sisters letting us tag along... well, anywhere.

Today, it's buying new books, drinking cheap wine with friends and lovers, and sleeping in on Saturdays.

What's your sugar, love bunnies?
